Lymington Ferry Port Information

About The Port

Lymington ferry port is located on the south coast of England. It is a small but busy harbour that has connections to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight, with up to 17 crossings per day. It has just one ferry terminal.

The port dates all the way back to the 6th century when the Saxons founded a settlement named “limen tun”. Despite its relatively small size, the port at Lymington has seen its fair share of history and activity that leads right up to the modern day. It was part of an important wine and cloth route, it once housed merchant and war ships as well as being burnt down twice during the Hundred Years War with France.

Today, there is much less destruction and much more relaxation for ferry passengers travelling to the Isle of Wight. Wightlink Ferries is the operator from this port.

Directions For Getting There

If you are travelling by car, the best way to get there is to find directions to Lymington itself and then look out for “Isle of Wight ferries” which will direct you straight to the terminal. Pay and Display parking is available at the terminal including daytime, evening and overnight parking.

If you are travelling by train, there is a regular train service in operation from Brockenhurst direct to Lymington Pier station - adjacent to the Terminal. Brockenhurst is on the South West Trains London main line.

If you are travelling by bus/coach, a frequent bus service by National Express operates to Lymington from around the UK. For local services Lymington Bus Station is on the High Street, a short walk from the Ferry Terminal.
