Fishbourne is a sleepy fishing town located in the Isle of Wight, surrounded by countryside and is a 5-minute drive from the island’s seaside capital of Ryde. The port connects the Isle of Wight with England via Portsmouth. There are up to 24 daily crossings depending on the time of year, with the crossings only taking 45 minutes.
The history of Fishbourne ferry port is very closely tied with the history of Wightlink, the main ferry operator in and out of the Isle of Wight. The Portsmouth to Fishbourne route has always been one of the most reliable routes operated by the company and it completely revamped both the port and the ferries as recently as last decade.
The only route operating out of Fishbourne is to Portsmouth, and it is operated by Wightlink.
If you are travelling by car from Newport, follow the A3054 to Fishbourne Ferry Terminal. As already mentioned, it is also just a 5-minute drive from the capital of Ryde. Due to the small size of the area and the terminal itself, there are very limited parking facilities.
There are no direct public transport services to the Fishbourne terminal via either bus or rail. Southern Vectis bus services operate to Kite Hill which is about 15 minutes walk from the terminal but this is probably the closest you can get to direct.
