By far the main attractions of the island are its beaches and coastal walks. If you prefer to enjoy the scenery without the added effort, consider one of their many boat trips. Alternatively, to really unwind, there are a variety of spas and yoga classes to choose from. The options of hiring a Kayak, Jet Ski or Speedboat could add more excitement to a tranquil stay, with the Adventure Centre offering activities for some more family-friendly fun.
Jersey Zoo allows visitors to get closer to endangered species from around the world, but a more local experience is available at the Botanical Gardens, where you can find native plants and wildlife. Many of Jersey’s historical sites are also open to visitors, including Neolithic Passage Graves such as La Hougue Bie.
To spend a bit of time indoors, visit the Maritime Museum or go underground to see the old War Tunnels.
Jersey offers a range of local specialities, such as bean crock and conger soup. It’s also home to the renowned Jersey Cow, making the milk and cheese definitely worth trying. You’ll also find traditional English scones, or branch out and sample some of the local black butter or cabbage loaf bread. Although Jersey cider is not as widespread as it once was, it’s still worth sampling some apple brandy during your visit or going wine tasting at La Mare Wine Estate.
Being an island, seafood is particularly popular and widespread. Visit a fresh fish market, stop by a roadside seller or even have a barbecue by the beach. Whether its oysters, crabs or other shellfish, you can be sure there’s always something to choose from.
