Birkenhead Ferry Port Information

About The Port

Birkenhead Port is located in the city of Liverpool, England. Twelve Quays is the name of the ferry terminal here. It was opened in 2002 in order to transport freight and passengers to both the North and Republic of Ireland much quicker. However, for now at least, only Belfast, Northern Ireland and Douglas, Isle of Man are the two destinations that you can travel to from this ferry port as a passenger.

The routes are operated by Stena Line with up to 15 sailings per week.

Directions For Getting There

If you are travelling to Birkenhead port by car, the Twelve Quays terminal is very well sign-posted. The terminal is within 10 minutes of the M53 motorway and about 7 minutes from the Mersey tunnel leading to Liverpool city centre. There is a large car park in front of the terminal building.

If you are travelling by bus, there are a number of local routes that pass near 12 Quays Ferry Terminal. These include 411, 423, 437 and 487. To get to Liverpool itself, there is a regular National Express service which is probably the best choice from most locations in the UK.

If you are travelling by train, there are plenty of rail services that are directly connected to Liverpool from all over Britain. Birkenhead Hamilton Square railway station is a 15 minute walk from the terminal itself.
