Which company operates the ferry route?

DFDS Seaways run the ferry route exclusively. 

How often does the ferry operate?

The ferry runs every day, leaving the port at around 5 pm. Check-in opens at 2:30pm and closes at 4:15 pm, so make sure you arrive nice and early to give yourself plenty of time.  The return journey departs Amsterdam each day at around the same time.

Where exactly is the ferry port in Newcastle?

The port is actually about 16 kilometres east of Newcastle Upon Tyne, at the coastal town of North Shields.

How long does the Newcastle to Amsterdam ferry take?

The journey takes just under 16 hours, with arrival in Amsterdam at just before 10 am. 

What onboard facilities does the ferry have?

The ferry has great onboard facilities, including a casino, games rooms and kids play areas, with ball pits, and there is even a cinema! There are bars with live entertainment and restaurants on multiple decks of the ferry too. 

Can I take my pet on board?

Yes, pet-friendly cabins are available, with suitable vinyl flooring. Rooms sleep up to four people and can fit up to two medium-sized dogs. There are designated areas on the deck of the ferry suitable for walking your pet, to make sure they don't get restless!

Can I take my car?

You can take your car on the ferry, and there are no luggage restrictions either! The price of the journey includes transport.

Are transfers from the port to the city centre included?

Bus transfers are not included in the original price of the journey but can be added on for a price of £7 each way. The bus is operated by Brouwers - a partner of DFDS - and journeys into the city centre of Amsterdam take around 30 minutes.
